"DIESEL ENGINE"
The story of the diesel engine was introduced as the gasoline engine was invented, Nikolaus August Otto was the inventor of the gasoline engine, patented the gasoline engine in 1876. This invention was continued on the four-stroke combustion principle also known by the name of the founder as Otto Cycle, and this is the basic premise for the most cars in this modern life. in early stages the gasoline engines were not that much efficient and the other external engines which were used for the transportation used the 10% of the fuel in moving the vehicle and the rest 90% of the fuel produced the useless steam.
In 1878, Rudolf diesel the founder of the diesel engine , when he got to know about the low efficiency of the gasoline engine , this information kept on disturbing him to create a high efficiency engine, and afterwards he devoted most of his lifetime in developing a "Combustion power engine" and finally in 1892, the Rudolf Diesel invented something which is now known as Diesel Engine.
There are advantages of this invention but along with some disadvantages which can be explained as the loud clattering noise produced by the diesel engine and this thing created a bad impact of diesel engine over the people around the globe which made the diesel engine less attractive towards people although this engine has such capacity to move on with huge loads.
Working Principle
known as 4-stroke
1-Induction which is defined as
"Pure Air in drawn into he cylinder"
2-Compression this fact of the principle is known as
"The Air is compressed at High temperature and pressure"
3-Power stroke in this
"Around TDC fuel is injected, which self ignites and burns which further increase the pressure which forces the piston down"
4-Exhaust from this part of the design
"The hot gas produced is released into the surrounding"
The main difference between the Diesel Engine and the Otto Engine is the burning of Fuel,
in gasoline engine the air mixture enters into the cylinder and creates a stroichiometric mixture which is ignited and the flame travels from the spark and outwards through the liner.
The Diesel engine , Air enters the cylinder and the self ignites and burn with type of diffusion combustion.
